I am excited to show my comic to my group people but at the same time I wonder if they will like it or not . . .

or even get it  bah!!! who knows! Hopefully I can get the comic done a bit early so I can redo papers and write the

analysis paper that goes with the comic :3

I was able to push myself to staying up (it’a 4:30am right now) and getting lots of pages done

so now instead of 22 then 14 then 11 I have but 7 more to go. The last 7 is going to suck because

those pages contain my special guest! a lizard, frog, snake creature and his whole body (head, feet, fingers and

clothing) is super detailed >:( so I’m in for a battle tomorrow!

The price of using a video game heartthrob . . . but so far so good. And maybe by Sunday I will be done! with the

rough draft! then to the detailing, editing and inking. I am going to leave my comic black and white but the cover sheet

will be in color like mangas! The coloring will take to long. I draw slow and color super slow.

Also since my comic is a fan-fic I will have to include a Mass Effect (the game my fan-fic is based off of) summary and a

how to read this comic because it’s manga layout (backwards) so actually this comic will be 25 pages well 26 if i want to

make a back sheet SHIT! This comic is getting bigger and bigger I think I’m making my comic issue aren’t they like 20 or

30 pages?

Well night all have a good weekend and don’t stay up too late making comics!

Well I’m trying not to freak out we have like 2 weeks of school right?

After making all of my thumbnails for the final project it’s going to be

around 22 pages. So that’s like 12 more pages than expected. Frankly,

although it’s going to be somewhat of a bitch to sketch under a week but hell why not?!

My comic is a mixture of various of stuff I have not done before.

I don’t want to give any spoilers but it’s a fan fic, manga format (read it backwards), choose character’s reaction (only one character sorry any more = more pages) comic all in one.

I have done none of these things before so it going to a challenge!

But the real fun part is going to be the detailing, the scanning, the photoshopping and the hand inking.

Well I shouldn’t be wasting more time typing I should be making those darn pages!

How are your comic assignment going? I am not happy with mine. My idea was making a Japanese influenced style comic. I also wanted to do the same (ish) story I did for our first comic (the one page one) I just the story from the other person’s perspective and from a different setting.

If you guys are not familiar to Japanese style comics it’s basically western comics backwards (seriously, the front page is the back and vice versa) so one’s way of reading (if they are used to western comics) is thrown off. I am still learning how to do it . . . it doesn’t help that I read both western and Japanese comics . . . yay . . .

Any who my issue is that I messed up two panels I forgot I was doing Japanese style for a bit (got lost in the drawing) and drew the characters I used in the wrong position. I didn’t have time to change it so arrrggghhhh!!!

Secondly I didn’t have time to detail the back ground so there is a lot of blank white space ><

I don’t know about you guys but I just finished reading the whole graphic novel Asterios Polyp ( hard to put down)

and man it left me with a nice heart warming feeling. I don’t want to spoil much but I really like

the way lines, color, and the font of each character expresses each of their individuality. I don’t think

I have seen something like that before. Even though the book is pretty thick, it’s a quick read ^^.

For my comic redo I am planning on changing the first page by removing the auto bio part and just jump to the summary of my subject. Then I was going to add detail to the sketches I made on my first draft and ink it. I might change the word placement on the pages as well. Hopefully I will be able to do all of these things this weekend ^^

How was last class? I missed it I think deviant art . com gave me not only inspiration of drawing the male body but also a few viruses on my computer . . . darn it all but today blog is not about virues and computers and missing class but a bot random comic stuff.

Note is today’s blog is me a bit brain fried thanks to math and linguistics. Well, I really like the latest book we had to read it felt like I was watching a short film series. I like the story called “Evening Catch”. It was like watching a nature documentary although I feel sorry for the fisherman just when we was going to catch some fish and the night food chain cycle ends. What were your guy’s favorite comic in the book?

As soon as I was at a quarter done with my 1st draft comic for the current assignment I wanted to change it and make adjustments. But I was to far into the game to start over so I just drew the rest of the comic in a sketch like style. I’ve noticed that when I start making a comic I go through this love-hate process of self-doubt and frustration. But in the end if I keep my commitment to the task I find myself at a modest awe of how I was able to produce such a thing.

This result makes me both looking forward to making more comics and at the same time I feel reluctant to do so because of the same mixture of mixed emotions will plague me when I go into comic making mode. For an example . . . “Does this drawing look ok?”, “Will the teacher or my viewer be impressed or disappointed int his comic?”, “Will the reader like it?”, “Will the reader understand what I am talking about”? etc. . .

Do you guys feel that at all when you make comics for this class? How do you feel when you are making comics?

Well I thought the book was pretty interesting. I like how he made the book taking about comics a comic.

Here are the three pages that caught my attention

Page 70-72 When McCloud described “The Craft” of making the contract between the creator of the comic and the reader honored. The different styles the creator can do in a comic (from panel to panel stuff) I wondered if these techniques McCloud mentioned did he make the categories or are they mentioned in some exploring comics book out there.

On page 44 there are two things that stuck out to me. When McCloud mentioned in mangas (Japanese comics) if an object is shown in a closer view it becomes more detailed and realistic than how it is portrayed when farther from view (it looks “cartoony”). I thought that was interesting I didn’t notice that when I read mangas I should check it out! :3

Second, I wonder why when comparing comics from around the world, why does McCloud mainly uses U.S. and Japan as reference? Does comics in the west generally use the same techniques and in the east they do something totally different? hmmmm . . .

And 45 when McCloud breifly talks about Mauz by Art Spiegelman how “a simple style doesn’t necessitate simple story”. Reminds me not to judge a comic by it cover just because the characters are animals doesn’t mean the story is meant for kids.

oh well . . . ok  . . . well 1st day of class was great I thought everyone in class would be too

shy to talk and yet there was lots of laughs :3

Yay cool! I was quite surprised about my fellow classmates some are education majors and English minors. Frankly I thought the class was going to be full with Spiderman and x-men nerds lol. I really look forward to seeing what is going to happen in this class and hopefully I can stretch my horizons about comics and what not.  ok night all!!!
